A 90-year-old DJ is capturing attention across the electronic music scene after delivering one of the most memorable performances at this year’s C/O Pop Festival in Cologne.
Known as DJ Miss Crazy Irma, Irmgard Schloesser is the oldest member of Forever Fresh, a DJ collective made up entirely of women over the age of 60. The group was created after festival organizers noticed a lack of representation for older women in their lineup and decided to launch a project teaching senior women how to DJ.
What started as an experiment quickly turned into a success story. Participants joined an intensive training program to learn the fundamentals of DJing, despite many having little to no technical experience beforehand. Some members reportedly had never even used a computer before joining the initiative.
Despite using a walker in everyday life, DJ Miss Crazy Irma brought remarkable energy to the stage, dancing, raising her hands and fully engaging with the crowd throughout the performance. “I don’t do things halfway,” she said during the event.
Since forming, Forever Fresh has already performed at seven different events, including their standout appearance at the Cologne festival in late April. Their sets blend generations of music, featuring everything from EDM tracks by David Guetta to pop hits from Miley Cyrus and timeless classics such as ABBA’s “Dancing Queen.”
The collective is quickly becoming a symbol of how dance music culture continues to evolve, proving that passion for music has no age limit.
