ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, is seeking a Product Manager to join its team in Los Angeles to work on an AI-powered music creation and audio editing tool.
The successful candidate will need knowledge of music creation tools and musical instruments, as well as a passion for music. While the potential launch of this tool would see ByteDance entering an already crowded market, it would have TikTok’s billion monthly active users as an advantage. Separately, TikTok is hiring a Music Creator Operations Manager, who will work on developing music production tools and AI-generated music compositions, among other responsibilities. This recruitment drive comes amid the rise of AI-generated music on music platforms.
Deezer, a France-based company, has utilized artificial intelligence to create content, specifically music content, for its newly-launched wellbeing app, Zen by Deezer.
During the company’s Q1 2023 earnings call, CEO Jeronimo Folgueira disclosed that AI-generated content has provided benefits, especially as it significantly reduces production costs.
Deezer now owns the content, eliminating the need to pay outside content creators. With this development, it begs the question, what prevents TikTok from flooding its platform with AI-generated tracks? This technology may soon revolutionize the music industry and how we consume content.
