Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter announces solo album with orchestral score, ‘Mythologies’

Thomas Bangalter, one half of the French electronic duo Daft Punk is set to release his first full-length solo effort since disbanding with a fittingly grand celebratory gesture in homage to an equally ambitious collaboration.

His debut will be for none other than the renowned and acclaimed classical ballet ‘Mythologies’ – composed by himself as well as performed live at its premiere this past July alongside Ballet Preljocaj’s artistic director Angelin Preljocaj – supplying 90 minutes worth of 23 pieces inspired by Baroque music structures and American minimalism.

The score has been recorded under Romain Dumas’s direction while being played acoustically rather than through any electronics production kit; it is due out on April 7th via Warner Classics.
