Martin Garrix Tops DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2024: A Record-Equalling Triumph
Martin Garrix has ascended once again to the pinnacle of the DJ world, securing the title of The World’s No. 1 DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll for 2024. This significant achievement marks Martin Garrix fifth victory in this prestigious ranking, tying him with the legendary Armin van Buuren for the most wins in the history of the poll.
From his debut in 2016, Garrix has consistently dominated the scene, clinching five wins in just nine years and maintaining a steady presence in the top five throughout. His unparalleled success at such a young age not only underscores his exceptional talent but also cements his legacy as one of the most influential figures in the electronic dance music (EDM) industry.
Garrix’s triumph in 2024 sees him outpacing other DJ giants like David Guetta, who previously held the top spot for three out of the last four years, and the Belgian powerhouse duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who have been mainstays in the top ranks for more than a decade.
Reflecting on his journey, Garrix shared his awe and gratitude with DJ Mag: “Being listed among my idols, like Armin and Tiësto, is incredibly surreal. There’s always that fear of peaking too soon, so reclaiming the top spot this year feels exceptionally gratifying.”
2024 has been a year of remarkable firsts for Garrix. At the iconic Glastonbury Festival, his favorite band Coldplay performed a cover of his track ‘Breakaway’, a moment Garrix describes as astonishing and hopeful for future collaborations.
In addition to his musical achievements, Garrix continued to dazzle audiences with his dynamic performances, particularly his seventh-year Thursday residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza. Recalling his first experience at the famed venue, he humorously recounted how he once evaded security to witness Swedish House Mafia perform, illustrating his deep-seated passion for EDM.
This year, the award ceremony made a grand return to the Johan Cruyff Arena after a three-year hiatus, with the event broadcasted globally on DJ Mag’s YouTube channel and, for Chinese fans, exclusively on NetEase Cloud Music.
