Nevada is the only US state where EDM ranked as the most-searched music genre in a new Google Trends study.
Nevada is the only state in the US where EDM was the most-searched music genre over the past year, according to a new study from ticketing platform SeatPick.
The analysis examined Google search interest across 18 music genres in all 50 states during the 12 months ending in August 2026. Each state was then assigned the genre that generated the highest level of search interest.
Pop ranked first in 13 states, while metal led searches in 11 states. EDM, however, topped the list in just one state: Nevada.
The result is particularly notable given Nevada’s strong connection to electronic dance music. Las Vegas has developed one of the largest EDM markets in the US, driven by major festivals, clubs and DJ residencies.
The city is home to EDC Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, one of the world’s largest electronic music festivals. Las Vegas also hosts major DJ residencies at venues including Zouk, LIV and Wynn Nightlife, helping establish the city as a major destination for dance music fans.
According to SeatPick, Lady Gaga was the artist generating the most search interest behind Nevada’s EDM results. That detail highlights one of the limitations of the study, particularly when it comes to how the term “EDM” is used by the general public.
EDM is often used as a broad term for electronic music, even though fans and artists frequently distinguish between genres such as house, techno, trance, drum & bass and dubstep.
The SeatPick study did not measure those subgenres separately. As a result, Nevada’s electronic music audience is represented by a single broad search category rather than a detailed breakdown of the different styles popular across the state.
Still, Nevada standing alone at the top of the EDM search rankings reflects Las Vegas’ long-standing connection to electronic music and its position as one of the biggest destinations for dance music in the US.
